The market for timbers has shown exponential growth over the last two to three decades. When tables, chairs, door frames, and other furniture were all made of wood in the past, today we also find floors and ceilings made of timers. They provide homes a rich look and are aesthetically pleasing without the need for paint or stains, which is one of the reasons why demand has increased.
While it is simpler to obtain fresh wood, it is becoming more difficult to locate older wood since it takes them more than 50 years to dry. We worry that the old timbers will eventually run out and we will be left with nothing but new timbers because of the same reason. If I must discuss new timbers, they have certain drawbacks like retaining moisture, which is why many architects do not choose them.
To fulfil the ever-increasing demand, one can only hope that new strategies for extracting aged wood more quickly emerge.
